Programme Standards Policy
Together FM is committed to serving the community in a climate of social inclusion, diversity and equality. The aim of Together FM as a community radio station is to create and foster an informed, democratic, tolerant and diverse listener community.
Our policies and procedures provide the framework to ensure we broadcast responsibly in accordance with the Broadcasting Act 2009; and that where our listeners or wider community believe that we have not done so, they can hold us to account through a transparent and easy to follow process.
- We will strive to ensure that what we broadcast is not influenced by government, political, religious or commercial parties. And we will amend our content should this occur.
- Our news broadcasts will be “reported and presented in an objective and impartial manner and without any expression of the broadcaster’s own views”.
- When broadcasting current affairs we will be “fair to all interests concerned” and will ensure it is “presented in an objective and impartial manner and without any expression of the broadcaster’s own views”.
- Our content will not include anything that would promote or incite crime or seek to undermine the authority of the State; nor will it include harmful or offensive material.
- Content regarding violence or sexual conduct will be presented in a manner sensitive to the “convictions or feelings of the audience” and “with due regard to the impact …… on the physical, mental or moral development of children”.
- What we broadcast will reflect the community. Our broadcasters come from diverse backgrounds and our content will give voice to people living in the community, including marginalised and socially disadvantaged people who struggle to have their voice heard.
- Our commercial communications will comply with Coimisiún na Meán’s General Commercial Communications Code and Children’s Commercial Communications Code.
- The programmes that we broadcast will respect the privacy of individuals.
