Together FM celebrates National Community Radio Day

Good morning.  We are slowly getting back to business after the Covid 19 Lockdown. We hope you are all well.

Firstly, we would like to offer our deepest sympathies to any of you who have lost loved ones to this terrible disease. You are in our thoughts and prayers.  Also, we are thinking of those who are still recovering from the effects of Covid 19.

We have kicked off today with our usual Friday schedule.  Starting with the Weekly Review followed by Joe’s Weekend Tunes. These are repeat programmes, as we have not fully resumed yet. Then we have a slight change of schedule

Today, June 19th is National Community Radio Day. Begun in 2015, it’s the day Community Radio Ireland or CRAOL as it’s known – and its member stations across Ireland celebrate and recognise the work and commitment of the more than two and a half thousand volunteers and staff – involved community radio.

This year National Community Radio Day is hosted by 92.5 Phoenix FM, the Community Radio based in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. with a special four-hour broadcast from 12 midday to 4 pm focusing on the Social Benefit of Community Radio. This  broadcast will be streamed simultaneously on Together FM.

This sixth National Community Radio Day will see the launch of two key reports on the social benefit of Community Radio live on air by  Declan Gibbons, Chair of CRAOL and Michael O’Keeffe, CEO, The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland at  12 midday.

Have a listen out for our own Mary Clarke at 2 pm  talking about Together FM.

After that we will resume with repeat programmes of the Ross Mix, CRAOL News and Folk and Acoustic

Finally, we  would like to thank Terry Darklands and Jack Dempsey from getting things going last Saturday with their unique music mixes.

We look forward to resuming normal operations soon.
