Tallaght University Hospital have announced the development of a new Ambulatory Day Surgery Unit in an attempt to tackle the capacity challenges in the Hospital.
It has been discovered that since 2011 2,796 surgeries and procedures have been cancelled across 20 adult specialties. Some of the specialties have included urology, haemotology, elective orthopaedics, gastroentrology, rheumatology. The new facility is set to house 72 bed (all single room), with the hopes that it will treat a further 6,000 patients when fully commissioned.
