Public Warned of Fake €50 Notes in Circulation

The public in Tallaght have been warned by Gardaí that a batch of approximately 40 counterfeit €50 notes are being circulated around the area.

Gardaí have asked that local businesses and members of the public to be careful when accepting €50 notes and to take the time to check the note and see if it is real or not. The best way to check if the notes are real or not is to see if the note has the colour-shifting ink on the front, left-handed bottom corner which is present in real notes and absent in the counterfeit ones.

The colour should change from emerald green to a deep blue when the note is tilted. A full list of what to check for on notes can be found at www.centralbank.ie.
