World COPD Day takes place this year on the 20th of November and to mark the occasion support groups from Ballyfermot and Tallaght are hosting Information Events in Local Venues on the 19th and 20th of November.
COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is a lung condition that makes it hard for people to breathe due to an obstruction of the airways. 11,341 people from Dublin were hospitalised due to COPD between 2016 and 2018.
Information events will be held in the Ballyfermot Library on Tuesday the 19th of November and the Red Rua Arts Centre in Tallaght on Wednesday the 20th of November. At these events support group members will provide information on COPD and general health and well-being advice. Information from local resources such as peers support meetings, information talks and exercise programmes will also be provided on the days.
