Families who qualify for the Back to School Allowance will receive an extra €25 this year.
The payment which will be paid out in the second week of July, is a one off and will increase to €150 for 4 – 11 year old’s from the €125 that was paid last year. There has also been an increase of €25 for children aged 12 and up which sees the rate go from €250 to €275.
To qualify for the allowance, a person must be receiving certain social welfare payments or taking part in training, employment or adult education schemes.
